From the foothills of Virginia to the sandy shores of Florida, the Southeastern Jurisdiction (SEJ) offers some of the most breathtaking landscape in the world. Yet as beautiful as they are, the SEJ is also known for its spiritual vitality and innovative ministries. It is home to Lake Junaluska, the crown jewel of the 15 annual conferences that comprise the SEJ, which sits on a lake nestled in the Great Smoky Mountains of Western North Carolina. Gulfside Assembly, a historical African American retreat facility and Hinton Rural Life Center, a mission agency and advocacy organization for small membership churches, are also within the geographical boundaries of the SEJ.
Even with its impressive landscapes and facilities, there is a more impressive gift in the Southeastern Jurisdiction – the people. It is home to more than 2 million United Methodist with 14,467 clergy serving in settings ranging from local churches to institutions of higher education. They gather in 11,771 churches in 9 states and 15 annual conferences.
This is the Southeastern Jurisdiction of the United Methodist Church!
