Vintage YSF fundraisers

I was going through some old files yesterday and stumbled upon this vintage YSF resource.  The logo is in the tree at the top of the picture – almost psychedelic looking – which I think is pretty cool.  I wanted to share part of this with you because we all know fundraising can be kind of tricky at times.  you want it to be fun and have kids really enjoy being there but also, it’s for a purpose of some sort.  so you want that to be the focus.  And keeping it creative is a whole different ballgame!  These are a few out of the ordinary ways to fundraise according to this sheet:

birthday calendars

hoagie sales (take orders for sandwiches; make and deliver),

egg beg (go to a house, beg for an egg; go to another house and sell the egg)

carnival or circus (using household pets & booths with food; clowns & acrobats!)

rock-a-thon (rock in rocking chairs for 24 hours)

talk-a-thon (get sponsors for length of time you don’t talk OR do talk)

and the best for last… A BOOTY TREE!!  haha.  (at first i thought, pirate booty maybe? like treasure.  but then no, i was wrong – it’s little sock booties that you hang on a tree and people can stuff money in them!)

now some of the things on this 4 page resource are really good/fun ideas that have been done before, but i think have proven successful from what i’ve experienced:

spaghetti dinner

auctions

work day (hire out youth group to do odd jobs for church members; coordinate jobs before event)

Sunday coffee and donuts (everyone loves donuts & just have a donations box)

Christmas “in house” post office (church goers can check with post office to see if they have any mail OR mail may be delivered directly to homes)

valentine’s day banquet – (have photobooth and sit-down dinner + entertainment or a movie)

walk or bike-a-thon – (set a 20 mile course & get sponsors)

i’d love to hear any ideas you’ve tried out or seen done well.  let’s work together! – happy friday
